Focus On Your Competitive Edge

Failing to have a competitive edge in business is literally setting your business up to flounder. One of the things you should do from the outset is ascertain your business’ competitive positioning as the majority of your marketing approach will hinge on who you are and what you have to offer. Ask yourself this question, then be willing to delve a little deeper. Why are you in business and why should people care? Your customers need to understand this on a number of levels as they will only choose to do business with you if you can help them solve some kind of problem or make life simpler for them. Why do you do what you do? Once you know who you are and what you can do for your customers then you need to look at how you differ from your competitors? How unique are your products or services and why should people buy from you? Without this differentiation then marketing can become a tricky issue.
