Kick Off Your New Year The Right Way
2015 is here and now is the time to start thinking about how to kick it off the right way. If you are planning to be better and more successful, you would probably be interested to know why most New Year’s business resolutions fail and how to plan ahead without being unreasonable or ridiculous. According to the statistics, many business owners make unrealistic resolutions they are not prepared to follow, set too many goals (some of which are too vague to pursue) and involve too many negative feelings in the process – fear, guilt or shame. If you want to improve your chances of being successful, think about your resolutions carefully. Here are three suggestions you may wish to consider.
Reflect on 2014
Firstly you need to understand what needs improvement; the best way to find out is to look back at 2014 objectively and reasonably. Which of your undertakings were successful and why? Which failed, or nearly failed, and why? What helped you keep motivated and what threw you in doubt and hesitation? And most importantly – what did you find worth doing and what seemed to be a waste of time? The answers to these questions will help you start or amend your plan for 2015 and filter out all the needless activities, focussing on what really matters.
As you know, many successful people out there give interviews or write books explaining how they became successful – and it appears that everything depends on proper organisation. If you want to achieve success this year, you need to sit down and spend as much time as you can on a careful plan that you can adhere to. Then, you will need to find what motivation works for you and use its help to stay organised. Don’t be organised only in the office – make sure you introduce it in all areas of your life. Being on top of everything will make it easier to be more efficient at work, so maybe it is time to start arranging the desktop icons properly, go to bed on time and destroy the documents you don’t need instead of stacking them in the drawers?
If you are doing everything properly and still struggling to get positive results, maybe it is time to abandon the textbook style and get creative. Offer your clients something they can’t find anywhere else and they will come back to you over and over again. In the aggressively competitive business world of 2015, the survivors and the successful ones will be those who use their creativity without hesitation and holdbacks. You know your area, you know your customers and what they want – just start offering amazing and unique services they will need you to provide!
All in all, 2015 gives us yet another chance to start anew and be better people in life and business. If you want to improve this year and take things to the next level professionally, start simple – reflect on your work so far, get really organised and use your creativity. These three simple strategies will help you reform and invigorate your business and achieve more than you did last year.
Good luck and all the best for 2015.
